Description
Easily identified by its distinctive cylindrical leaves, Syringodium isoetifolium forms dense meadows and is an important component of diverse seagrass communities.
Morphology
Cylindrical, terete leaves 1โ2 mm in diameter and 20โ30 cm long. Rhizomes rooted in sand.
Habitat
Sandy subtidal areas, often in moderately exposed locations.
Distribution
Indo-Pacific region.
Ecological Role
Provides dense structural habitat. Important for invertebrate communities.
