Description
One of the pioneer species in seagrass succession. Halodule uninervis is a small but ecologically important species that can colonize disturbed areas.
Morphology
Very narrow leaves 0.5–2 mm wide with a single midrib. Leaves 5–20 cm long with tridentate tips.
Habitat
Sandy substrates in intertidal and shallow subtidal zones. Pioneer species in disturbed areas.
Distribution
Indo-Pacific, common in Philippine coastal waters.
Ecological Role
Pioneer species for seagrass recovery. Food source for juvenile sea turtles and dugongs.
